PTD-DBM
Research profile · How we handle evidence
PTD-DBM is a fusion peptide combining a Protein Transduction Domain (PTD), which carries the peptide across the cell membrane, with a Dishevelled-Binding Motif (DBM). Inside the cell, the DBM segment stabilizes Dishevelled (DVL), a key relay protein in Wnt signaling, which in turn activates the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway. Wnt/beta-catenin signaling is a central driver of hair-follicle stem-cell activation and cutaneous wound repair, which is why PTD-DBM is studied mainly in hair-growth and skin-regeneration research rather than in any cancer or p53 context.

Overview
PTD-DBM is a lab peptide researched for waking up hair follicles and speeding wound healing by turning on a cell-signaling pathway (Wnt/beta-catenin) that normally goes quiet in resting follicles and damaged skin.
Mechanism of Action
PTD-DBM is a lab peptide researched for waking up hair follicles and speeding wound healing by turning on a cell-signaling pathway (Wnt/beta-catenin) that normally goes quiet in resting follicles and damaged skin.
Benefits
- Studied for activation of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling in hair follicles
- Studied for supporting cutaneous wound-repair signaling
Side Effects
- Human safety data not established
- Long-term effects of sustained Wnt-pathway activation are not characterized
Contraindications
- No established human safety profile
- Not studied in pregnancy or in people with active or prior malignancy, given Wnt pathway's role in some cancers
- Avoid combining with other experimental Wnt-pathway modulators pending more data
